Lead Game Designer

Responsibilities:

• Leading and directing a small team in envisioning, prototyping, communicating, implementing, and balancing game designs



• Designing game mechanics, AI behaviors, storyline and supporting dialogs



• Creating level layouts and design specifications



• Create and maintain game design documentation throughout the project cycle



• Maintaining quality of the design through monitoring implementation and communicating with the team



• Contributing to current and future game concepts



• Scripting gameplay using a proprietary editor suite

• Working with the team’s producer and other leads to prepare and manage project schedules

• Collaborating with other talented teammates to create great games



Requirements:

• Work closely with client’s design representative to ensure a shared vision and quality expectations.

• Manage and direct small team with the conception and implementation of the game vision.

• Strong communication and management skills a must.

• Strong understanding of game mechanics, emotional/psychological involvement, risk/reward systems, level design, balance, and all other facets of video game design.

• Work closely with artists to achieve appropriate visual style.

• Work closely with programmers to build tool sets and functional gameplay/systems.

• Work with other game designers to implement, balance, and tune gameplay.

• Ability to collaborate with others on achieving a great gameplay experience.

• Three-plus years’ experience, and at least two shipped titles in a designer capacity.



Preferences:

• Console game development experience

• Rapid prototyping skills a major plus



• Level editor and 3D modeling software experience a plus

• A great sense of humor



• You play in a band
